To Bill English.
My name is Camille and I am 8 years old. My family and I are on holiday for a while on a boat in Europe. As we sail around we notice lots of plastic in the sea. We decided to study this. Because we come from New Zealand we have stuck to studying what New Zealand can do. So far we have figured out that New Zealand has done the least about the plastic problem. What are you risking if you do nothing?
.1 New Zealand has always boasted about greenary, not for long if you do nothing about it. Did you know that by 2050, there will be more plastic in the sea than fish!
.2 If the fish eat the plastic and the people eat the fish then you are also risking human health.
.3 Our main source of money is from tourists, but if you have plastic everywhere, then no tourists will come.
These are three good reasons that you should at least put a cost on non reusable plastic bags.
We heard that you are travelling to Europe soon. Most European countries are banning or putting a tax on non reusable plastic bags. Do you think you could talk to the European Prime Ministers about how New Zealand could do the same.

We're an ordinary family of 5 dreaming, planning and now beginning our adventure around the Mediterranean (and further afield), having an awesome time! Look out for our boat and come and say hi.
