We were up at 1am to set sail for Licata our final stop of the season. The fisherman are up on the sea wall busy with who knows what, but it makes are early start seem not so bad. We drop the lines to the mooring buoy and navigate our way out of the harbour, dodging mooring buoys as we go. This is always the most stressful part of a trip – the getting into and out of a harbour, especially in the dark.
Out in the open sea and we still have a lot to look out for fishing boats and container ships – why do they insist on travelling at night! By morning we have the two foresails up and are getting pushed along the coast making good progress. As we approach Licata the sea is getting up and it’s a bit uncomfortable turning into wind to get the sails down. But all is peaceful when we enter the harbour and find our spot – berth number 2.
We're an ordinary family of 5 dreaming, planning and now beginning our adventure around the Mediterranean (and further afield), having an awesome time! Look out for our boat and come and say hi.
