First stop the big toe of the Bishop of Nin - giving it a rub brings good luck, and that seems like a good thing to have at the start of a journey.
Then through the Golden Gate of the Palace and into Split old town.
We ran into some Gladiators in the square.
The Palace is now little more than a series walls or arches and gates. A beautiful frame to the town.
Twelve Sphinxes were brought to Split from Egypt somewhere around 297. This is the only one that has survived.
We're an ordinary family of 5 dreaming, planning and now beginning our adventure around the Mediterranean (and further afield), having an awesome time! Look out for our boat and come and say hi.
